Hey y'all, I have a HP 348 G4 laptop CORE i5 7th Gen and it recently started not charging. I've tried using chatgpt, Google and YouTube but none of them are helping.

It keeps saying plugged in but never charging. When i use it while its on the charger it loses battery and i have class tomorrow moring. Is there anyone who can help.

I am a self funding student so buying a new laptop is not in my current budget.

Hello Sugita,

Thank you for posting your concern,

HP 348 G4 Laptop Not Charging Issue

If your HP 348 G4 laptop shows it is plugged in but not charging, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  1. Check the Power Adapter and Cable:

    • Confirm that the power adapter and cable are in good working condition. Try another power outlet to ensure the socket isn't the problem.
    • Inspect the adapter and cable for any visible damage. If possible, try using a different adapter to see if the issue persists.
  2. Inspect the Charging Port:

    • Check the laptop’s charging port for any dust or debris that might obstruct the connection. Use compressed air to clean it if necessary.
  3. Battery Health Assessment:

    • Most HP laptops come with built-in hardware diagnostics. You can run a battery test using this tool:
    • Shut down the laptop and disconnect external devices.
    • Turn on the laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run the battery test and check for any error codes or issues reported.
  4. Reinstall Battery Drivers:

    • Open "Device Manager" by searching it in the Windows search bar.
    • Locate "Batteries," then right-click "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select "Uninstall."
    • Restart your laptop, which should automatically reinstall the driver.
  5. Verify Windows Power Settings:

    • Sometimes power settings can affect charging behavior.
    • Go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options" and ensure that settings are configured correctly for performance and battery use.
  6. BIOS Update:

    • Updating the BIOS can sometimes resolve charging issues. Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page, search for your HP 348 G4 model, and update the BIOS following the instructions provided.
  7. Battery Reset:

    • Shut down your laptop and remove the battery if removable.
    • Disconnect the power adapter and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
    • Reinsert the battery, connect the power adapter, and restart the laptop.
  8. Contact HP Support:

    • If none of these steps work, consider reaching out to HP Support for further assistance. They may provide guidance specific to your model and issue.

I hope one of these steps helps resolve your charging issue so you can attend your classes without worry.
