Hello

but the pc will not switch on now

Before I got the battery changed I used the pc on charging power because the battery was weak, any time I switched the pc on it displayed information telling me that the battery was weak.

the day before I got the battery changed, the pc was not switching on even on charging power, the power button light switches on(white) but after about 2 seconds it goes off and the pc won’t switch on

after the battery change I let it charge till that light turn white from orange

when I switch the laptop on, the power button light switches on(white) but after about 3 seconds it goes off and the pc won’t switch on

what’s happening now ?

I need help please

Hi @KayOG,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there could be a few potential issues causing your laptop not to power on properly, even after changing the battery. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue.

Check Power Adapter and Connections:

  • Ensure that the power adapter is securely plugged into both the laptop and the power outlet.
  • Try using a different power outlet or a different power adapter if possible, to rule out a faulty adapter.

Reset Power Management:

  • Sometimes, laptops can get into a state where the power management needs to be reset. To do this:
    • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if it's removable).
    • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. This will discharge any residual power.
    • Reinsert the battery (if removable) and reconnect the power adapter.
    • Try powering on the laptop again.

Check Battery Installation:

  • Ensure that the new battery is properly installed. If the battery is not securely connected, it may prevent the laptop from powering on.

Inspect for Physical Damage:

  • Check the power button and surrounding area for any physical damage or debris that could be causing issues.

BIOS Reset:

  • In some cases, resetting the BIOS settings can resolve power-related issues. This typically involves accessing the BIOS setup utility (often by pressing F2, F10, or Delete key during boot) and finding the option to reset to default settings.

Hardware Diagnostics:

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware fault such as a faulty motherboard or power supply unit.

Given the symptoms you described, where the power LED turns on briefly but then turns off, it suggests that the laptop might be failing to complete its boot process due to power or hardware issues. Trying these steps should help you narrow down the cause or potentially resolve the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
