Hi @Reverie94,

I understand your wired mouse keeps turning on and off when connected to the USB port on your laptop. Let’s go through a few steps to check whether this is caused by the USB port, power settings, or the mouse itself.

Test the mouse on another device
Plug the same mouse into a different laptop or desktop.
If the mouse still turns on and off, the issue is with the mouse cable or hardware.

Test a different USB device on the same port
Connect another USB device (such as a pen drive or keyboard) to the same USB port.
If that device also disconnects repeatedly, the USB port is likely the problem.

Try a different USB port on the laptop
Plug the mouse into another USB port on your laptop.
If it works normally on a different port, the original port may be faulty or loose.

Check USB power management settings
Open Device Manager and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Right-click each USB Root Hub, go to Power Management, and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

Update USB and chipset drivers
Go to your laptop manufacturer’s support page and install the latest chipset and USB drivers.
Outdated drivers can cause unstable power delivery to USB devices.

Check for physical issues
Inspect the USB port for dust, debris, or looseness.
A loose or dirty port can cause intermittent power connection.

Restart the laptop and test again
Restart the system to clear temporary driver or power glitches.
After restarting, plug in the mouse and observe if the issue persists.

Test while on charger and on battery
Try using the mouse while the laptop is plugged in and then while on battery.
If the issue only happens in one mode, it may be related to power management.

I hope this helps.
