Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi Everyone,

I just purchased a new  HP ENVY 17m-cg0013dx and it makes extremely loud fan noises all the time. The noise is quite distracting and I have no idea how to fix it. The laptop is cool to the touch and I am not running games or any complicated programs on it. I just use it for light tasks like email, typing documents, and watching videos but it's extremely loud all the time. I looked online and read a lot of tips to fix the problem but so far nothing has worked. I made some adjustments, uninstalled and reinstalled the HP Command center ( there is no quiet option available.) I made sure to keep my laptop on a flat ventilated work surface. and it's still loud! I am sure there is no dust clogging the vents as it's brand new. What can I do now? any recommendations?

Hello Kumar,

Thanks for your reply. I followed all the steps mentioned in the article and my fan still spins and makes a huge amount of noise. On the HP command center quiet mode isn't available. I'm not sure what to do at this point because everything I tried to do didn't work.

Same issue with my HP ENVY17. Just a week old, but made the noise from day one. Bios was up to date. Energy set to 'balanced'. Windows 10 up to date. Fan makes lot of noice, even when I'm not using the machine. No antivirus action running, or onedrive downloads. Don't see why recovery should work. Followed other instructions on HP site, though found it a bit strange I should clean the fan within a week. This sound is really troubling me; not happy to use the machine if this can't be fixed. Still in guarantee. Should I return it immediately?
