Hi, I'm currently using a HP ENVY 13-ay1000 x360 Convertible PC. Recently, I just replaced my laptop screen because the previous one came off and the screen was cracked. However, ever since that, my stylus that came along with the laptop when I purchased it (series name: HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen) won't work at all even though the touchscreen works well with my finger. I contacted a local technician and he suggested for me to change to a new screen but it's going to cost me more money as I just replaced it. The technician also suggested me to opt for other compatible Bluetooth pens but I couldn't find one that is compatible for my model series. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem without replacing a new screen?

Hi @nadiahtaufik,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen is not working after a screen replacement on your HP ENVY 13-ay1000 x360, and the touchscreen works fine with your fingers, here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue without replacing the screen:
1. Check Pen Compatibility and Settings
Verify Pen Compatibility:
- Ensure Compatibility: Confirm that the HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen is compatible with your new screen. The screen replacement should be of the same model or compatible with the MPP (Microsoft Pen Protocol) standard.
Check Pen Settings:
- Windows Settings: Go to Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink and ensure that your pen settings are configured correctly.
2. Recalibrate the Pen
- Recalibrate the Pen:
- Windows Calibration: Search for “Calibrate” in the Windows Start menu and select “Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.” Follow the instructions to recalibrate your pen.
3. Update Drivers
Update Pen Drivers:
- Device Manager: Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start menu and selecting Device Manager. Expand the “Human Interface Devices” section and look for any pen-related devices.
- Update Driver: Right-click on the pen-related device and select “Update driver.” Choose to search automatically for updated driver software.
Update Windows:
- Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates. Install any pending updates as they may include fixes for device compatibility issues.
4. Check Pen Battery and Connectivity
Check Pen Battery:
- Recharge Pen: Ensure the HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen is fully charged. Connect it to the charger and let it charge for a while.
Bluetooth Connectivity:
- Check Bluetooth: If your pen connects via Bluetooth, make sure it’s paired correctly. Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices and ensure your pen is listed and connected.
5. Perform a System Scan
- Run Hardware Troubleshooter:
- Windows Troubleshooter: Search for “Troubleshoot” in the Windows Start menu and select “Troubleshoot settings.” Run the “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to detect and fix any hardware issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
