@Hexatush, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Victus 16-s0000 fans suddenly started vibrating and making a grinding noise, it likely indicates a mechanical issue—either physical damage, obstruction, or bearing wear in the fan assembly. Here's how to troubleshoot and address it:

Immediate Actions (To Prevent Damage)

  • Shut down the laptop immediately if the grinding is loud or the laptop vibrates excessively.
  • Unplug all power sources (charger, peripherals).
  • Let it cool down before you inspect.

Check for Physical Obstructions

  • Use a flashlight to look into the air vents. Dust, debris, or even a loose internal cable might be hitting the fan blades.
  • Do not insert objects into the vents while the laptop is on.

If you're comfortable:

Open the back panel (using a proper screwdriver) and inspect the fans for:

  • Dust clogging
  • Any loose wires or screws
  • Warped or broken fan blades
  • Foreign objects

Try a Soft Reset

Sometimes, a driver or fan control glitch can cause erratic fan speeds:

  • Disconnect power.
  • Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect and boot into BIOS (press F10 during startup) → wait to see if the fans still make noise. If yes, it’s not software.

Run HP Diagnostics

  • On boot, press Esc > then F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the Fan test under "Component Tests".

Update BIOS and Firmware

A fan curve or EC (Embedded Controller) bug could be mismanaging fan speed:

Visit HP Support → enter your product number → download and install:

  • Latest BIOS
  • System firmware updates
  • HP CoolSense or any thermal management tools (if available)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
