Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

I've been having some NVMe detection problems since i opened the laptop to add 8gb of ram (i did test the ram with prime95 and it passed perfectly and i made sure to pick the right RAM, also did try to remove the newly added RAM stick)

i cannot reseat the NVMe because i don't have the right screwdriver. when i remove the battery and i wait for about 12 hours it works again maybe even for 4 days until it fails and keeps disconnecting. (somehow i have to wait for about 12 hours for it to work again and 1 hour is not enough).

Hi @Toniel06,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you’re experiencing intermittent NVMe detection problems on your laptop after adding RAM. The drive works temporarily after waiting ~12 hours but then disconnects again. Let’s go through a few points and steps that can help identify and potentially resolve this.

Check for electrical discharge issues
Waiting 12 hours likely allows residual charge in the system to fully dissipate.
This points to a potential short, grounding, or power delivery issue affecting the NVMe slot.

Reseat NVMe drive (recommended)
Even though you don’t have the right screwdriver, reseating the NVMe module is essential.
Loose connection or poor contact between the NVMe and the slot is the most common cause of intermittent detection.

Check BIOS/UEFI settings
Boot into BIOS and confirm that the NVMe drive is detected correctly.
Reset BIOS to default settings to rule out configuration conflicts after the RAM upgrade.

Update BIOS/firmware
Check the laptop manufacturer’s website for the latest BIOS and NVMe/SSD firmware updates.
Some NVMe detection issues are resolved with firmware updates.

Inspect thermal and power conditions
Some NVMe drives are sensitive to temperature and power fluctuations.
Ensure that your laptop is not overheating and that the NVMe is not near any heat source, especially after opening the chassis.

Test NVMe in another device (if possible)
If you have access to another compatible device, test the NVMe drive there.
If it works consistently, the issue is likely in your laptop’s slot, motherboard, or power delivery.

Check for grounding or short circuits
After opening the laptop, dust, screws, or misaligned components can create shorts.
Carefully inspect the area around the NVMe slot and RAM for any foreign objects or bent pins.

I hope this helps.
