Hi!

I have just upgraded my ssd from 512gb to 1tb and now after installing windows and all when I go to device manager I can’t find my nvidian grx1650 under display adapters, I’ve tried hidden devices also still couldn’t find anything.

Then I tried downloading GeForce experience it also didn’t download saying I don’t have nvidia gpu, then I tried to download the driver manually, it also says cannot continue, NVidia gpu not found

Hi @Mustafa102 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your system isn’t detecting the NVIDIA GPU after the SSD upgrade and fresh Windows installation. This can sometimes happen due to a missing or incompatible driver, or if the system isn’t properly recognizing the GPU hardware. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this:

1. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI (typically by pressing F10, F2, or Esc during startup).
  • In the BIOS, look for any settings related to “Graphics” or “Discrete Graphics” and ensure that the discrete GPU (NVIDIA) is enabled. Sometimes, settings like “Switchable Graphics” can affect GPU detection.
  • Save any changes and exit.

2. Run Windows Update

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for any updates. Sometimes, Windows Update will detect and install missing drivers, including GPU drivers.

3. Install the Latest Chipset and Graphics Drivers

  • Go to HP’s support site for the Victus 15-fa0000 and download the latest Intel chipset and graphics drivers. These drivers can help ensure proper hardware communication and may trigger detection of the NVIDIA GPU.

4. Reinstall NVIDIA Drivers in Safe Mode

  • Restart your laptop in Safe Mode (hold Shift and click Restart to access the advanced startup menu).
  • Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove any existing NVIDIA drivers completely.
  • Once DDU has finished, restart normally and try reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers from the official NVIDIA site or GeForce Experience.

5. Check for Windows Device Manager Issues

  • Open Device Manager and expand the Display Adapters section.
  • If the NVIDIA GPU is listed as a “Hidden Device,” right-click it, select Uninstall, then Scan for Hardware Changes.
  • If it doesn’t appear, go to Action > Add Legacy Hardware and manually check for any missing drivers related to the GPU.

6. Update BIOS

  • If your BIOS is out of date, it may cause hardware detection issues. Download the latest BIOS update from HP’s support page for your model and follow the installation instructions carefully.

7. Reset the Laptop’s Battery and Power Settings

  • Shut down the laptop, unplug it, and hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds to reset any stored power configurations that could be affecting hardware detection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
