My windows registry has corrupted. I need to reinstall windows from scratch. I have a bootable windows 11 usb drive. But upon boot the setup is telling me to install hardware drivers. It is not able to detect the hard drive. I believe the hard drive in my laptop is an NVMe drive. I need drivers for it urgently in a zip file.

I tried downloading all the drivers available on HP website for my laptop model but none contains driver for my hard disk.

Please send me the zip file in my email address: nitinarnoldvictor@**bleep**.com

Please try to do this as soon as possible because I can't do anything without my laptop.

Thanks

Nitin Arnold Victor

OK, you have a couple of options.

I have zipped up and attached the Intel RST drivers below that are needed for PC's with the Intel 11th > 13th gen core processors.

Unzip and copy all of the files in the folder in the attachment to a USB flash drive.

Have the flash drive and your Windows installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the Windows installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

If Windows still can't find the drive, uncheck the box to include the compatible driver and try any of the ones listed.

If that doesn't work, your other option would be to use the HP cloud recovery tool on another PC to make a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall the original HP factory software image on the drive.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.

Since you have to use the software on another PC, you will need to enter your PC's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed.

Hi Nitin,

This is usually not an NVMe driver issue directly. During a clean Windows 11 installation, if the setup cannot detect the internal SSD, it is often related to the storage controller driver, especially Intel RST / Intel VMD.

Please try the following:

  1. Confirm the exact HP laptop model or product number so the correct driver can be identified.
  2. On another PC, go to the official HP Software and Driver Downloads page for your exact model.
  3. Look for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology / Intel RST / VMD storage controller driver.
  4. Download the driver and extract it to a folder on a USB drive.
  5. During Windows 11 setup, when it asks for a driver, click “Load driver” and browse to the extracted storage driver folder.
  6. After the driver loads, the NVMe SSD should appear and you can continue the installation.

If your BIOS has an option related to Intel VMD / RAID / storage controller mode, do not change it unless you are sure what you are doing, as it may affect booting or installed systems.

Also, for safety, it is better not to share your email address publicly. Drivers should be downloaded only from the official HP support page for your exact model.

Hope this helps.

Hi. Thanks for replying.

The problem is that there are no drivers for hard drive on HP website for my device.

There are drivers for firmware like sandisk and western digital ssd, and samsung. But on installing it says not for this device or no disk detected.

There are no drivers for my hdisk.

If only I could get even generic drivers to make the setup run.

Also there is no vmd or raid or storage controller option in my laptop. The bios actually has nothing in it. Just simple things.

Hi,

Thanks for the update.

The SanDisk / Western Digital / Samsung files you found are usually SSD firmware updates, not the storage driver needed during Windows installation. They normally require the SSD to already be detected, so they will not help if Windows Setup cannot see the drive.

Windows 11 already includes a generic NVMe driver, so in most cases an NVMe SSD should appear automatically. If it does not appear, I would suggest checking the following:

  1. Enter BIOS Setup and check whether the internal SSD/NVMe drive is detected there.
  2. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI and perform the storage/SSD test.
  3. During Windows Setup, press Shift + F10, type the following commands, and check whether the disk appears:

diskpart

list disk

exit

If no disk appears in list disk, then Windows Setup is not seeing the SSD at all. In that case, it may be a BIOS/storage controller issue, an SSD connection issue, or a failing SSD.

If the disk appears in list disk but not in the Windows installation screen, then the partition table may be corrupted. Since you are reinstalling Windows from scratch, you can delete the existing partitions from the Windows Setup screen, but please note that this will erase the data on the drive.

Also, please try creating a fresh Windows 11 USB installer using the official Microsoft Media Creation Tool, and test with another USB port if possible.

Another good option is to use the official HP Cloud Recovery Tool, if your model supports it. It can create HP recovery media for your exact device and usually includes the required HP drivers.

Please share the exact HP model/product number and whether the SSD appears in BIOS or in diskpart > list disk. That will help identify the next step more accurately.

Hope this helps.

The drivers in the zip file didn't work. It did show the driver files but It gave error on installing: A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB or Hard disk driver. Please insert it now.

Looks like I'll have to do a cloud install.

But this is really bad. 1 lakh worth of laptop and this nonsense.

Thanks anyway for helping.

God bless you.

You're very welcome.

Your PC may need this driver I zipped up and attached instead or in addition to the F6 drivers I attached.
