HP HDX18 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)

System recently started shutting down spontaneously.  Limited troubleshooting leads me to believe I have a thermal (overhaeating) problem; placing an external fan directed at the laptop enables it to continue to operate, but this is not practical as a permanent solutiion.  I'm looking for a hardware diagnostic routine to confirm my suspicions about overheating, and the only thing I have been able to turn up on-line is SP93457.  When I launch that program, I get an error message saying IE11 or greater is required.  However, IE 11 is not compatible with Windows Vista; IE9 is the latest version compatible with Windows Vista.  Is there a version of the hardware diagnostics earlier than SP93457 available?  Where can I find it?  Thanks in advance.

Hi:

I would try the HP 4 in 1 Diagnostics USB key tool at the link below.
