Need a battery for M7U Envy M7-U009DX.
I found a whole bunch of aftermarket sellers, that seem to be all selling the same very poor quality battery. The photos mostly look exactly the same. People complain that the batteries don't fit, the screw holes don't line up, The wires aren't connected correctly. The laptop drivers doesn't see the battery,or the batteries don't work at all. Many report that the ones that do work at all, fail in 3-4 months.
If anyone found a battery that lasts at least a year, that would be great help. This laptop is a brick without the battery. Very disappointed in HP for this.

These are the batteries as you likely know already:
Battery (includes cable):
3-cell, 61-WHr, 5.36-WHr, Li-ion 849315-856
3-cell, 41-WHr, 3.63-WHr, Li-ion 849314-85
The 61wh is obviously the better product.
Not sure what problem this would create. This is a genuine HP battery and should fit precisely.

The trick is to search by the battery part number not the model of the laptop. This is an original HP battery so is the same thing provided from the factory as an enhanced option. Most came with the lower powered battery. If it works for you maybe accept as solution so others can more easily find the answer from the internet.

Still searching. The seller link above, had 2 for sale, sold both, 0 left. Found another link, battery had the same graphic, i.e. had the HP logo, seller in Hong Kong, but a buyer said it didn't fit, and battery only has a 60 day warranty.
Get the feeling that some Chinese company realized people know they're batteries are very poor quality, so they found someone to put the HP logo on the battery to increase sales. 😞
Found another place in Texas, says "open box" items, sold in bulk packaging. Anyone know how to tell if this is a knock off with fake HP logo, or really manufactured for HP?

Got some more info from an actual seller in China. What they do is get an old laptop, take the battery out, find a local mfr to make a case for the battery, and put cells in it. They find someone to make the printing on the battery.
I guess at this stage is less likely to be a "new old stock" battery manufactured for HP. Still looking.

I am not sure what is going to assure you the battery is OK to use. You are correct to be skeptical but keep in mind in many cases third party "compatible" batteries are made in the very same factories that do HP's very short run of batteries it puts in new models and then stocks in the store briefly.
Here:
I just search ebay by battery number and add the word "genuine" and do the advanced search where it searches auction title and the full description. It's less than $40 so due diligence is less than buying a new laptop or new car. eBay feedback is a fairly good indication that they are not selling misdescribed junk. Good luck.
