Hello,
I have an HP Envy x360 15m-cn0012dx laptop and the CPU has been getting hot. I need to replace the internal fan but I don't know the part number. Can anyone assist with identifying the correct part number for the internal fan? Thank you in advance to all who stop by and read my post as well as those who provide a response.
Best,
Tom

Hi, Tom:
Below is the link to the parts list for your notebook.
The parts list has the following fan part number and description:
L23569-001 | FAN |
But when you look at chapter 3 of the service manual, it shows that the notebook model series has two fans in some models, and none of the fan part numbers listed in the manual coincide with the one listed for your notebook that is in the parts list.

Your notebook has the onboard Intel graphics.
It does not appear that HP sells the fan listed in your notebook's parts list.

I do see that fan part number listed on eBay though.

Hi Paul,
That was a very well constructed and thought out answer and I appreciate it very much. But I have determined it's actually not the fan as I received a replacement fan today and it didn't solve the problem. The four cores still get hot and eventually I get a warning that the CPU cores are at critical temperature and I shut down. Do you have any suggestions as to why my CPU is running so hot? I bought the laptop in 2019 brand new. Its a HP Envy x360 15m-cn0012dx. Any guidance is truly appreciated. This laptop has been very dependable ever since I bought it. But lately not so much.I recently upgraded the RAM from 12 Gig to 32 Gig and I thought the memory might be the culprit because the RAM was rated at 3200 MHz while my installed RAM is 2400 MHz. (I was told by a Crucial rep. that 3400MHz would work on my motherboard rated at 2400MHz although the new RAM would be clocked down to 2400 MHz. Do you think you can help, Last thing I need is to purchase a new laptop. Thank you Paul,
Best,
Tom

You're very welcome, Tom.
Unfortunately, I don't know what the overheating problem could be.
You may need to apply new thermal pads/paste to the heat sink surfaces that contact the processor and GPU.
The heat sink itself could have developed a crack or is clogged with dust, restricting heat dissipation.
If the heat sink is damaged in some way, it would need to be replaced.
The heat sink part number and description would be the one for UMA graphics (onboard Intel graphics).
For use only on computer models equipped with a graphics subsystem with UMA memory HP part # L53542-001
The notebook can support 2 x 8 GB of memory according to chapter 1 of the service manual I posted.
DDR4-3200 memory will automatically bridge to 2500 MHz because that is as fast as your notebook's processor can run the memory at.
The Crucial memory report for your notebook indicates that it can support up to 2 x 16 GB of memory.

I tend to agree with Crucial on the memory capacity.
You can do this to see if it would be possible to install 2 x 16 GB of memory in your notebook:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Boy, you certainly provided me with some really helpful information. You are correct. I followed you directions and saw the maximum RAM that my motherboard supports and like you said, it's 32gig.. The command prompt was the best method to get an exact amount of RAM I could upgrade to. Since my laptop only has one fan the part number you provided is for the two fan HP Elite Notebook. But I was able to find the part number for the heat sink assembly.

. It's a bit pricey at $59-$79 at some online vendors. Amazon had it available but they wanted $109 for it and I said forget it!. I will continue to look for a better price. Thank you again Paul, I am fortunate to have the benefit of your vast knowledge of computer tech. Have a good day.
Best,
Tom
