Spectre X360 13T
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm looking for a docking station for a Spectre X360 13T (new model in 2021) that supports two monitors (DP and/or HDMI), has an Ethernet connection, 2 USB-C ports and addition USBs. I've seen a variety of docking stations both on the HP and other websites, all with a variety of comments that a specific dock works AND it doesn't. Apparently, HP itself does not claim any of its docks work, or at least won't support them.

I found several but each had some negative comments from Spectre users, although some may have been due to user error. Here are several I found, and I'd like to know if anyone has anything they'd like to share about using these with the Spectre:

We suggest contacting the  HP sales team for purchasing. I'm not sure functionality of other manufacturers USD C docking.

HP does not make a Thunderbolt 4 docking station as of yet, so one will not get the full functionality of the Spectre's TB4 capabilities. Kensington does make one that appears compatible, and Anker makes one that definitely is compatible--I purchased the latter and it works very well (at least so far).

In terms of some of Anker's negative reviews, and perhaps those of other docking stations, it may be that the users tried to push too much wattage through (the Anker takes up to 90W, or perhaps tried 2 8K monitors, or daisy-chained too many USB hubs; another common error is to plug a peripheral into one of the USB ports that wasn't designed for so much power (e.g., a port for a mouse that was used for something else; or a USB-TB port that wasn't designed for the monitor, as neither all USB-A ports nor all USB-C ports are designed to hold the same loads.

As an FYI, I am using 2 24" monitors (1920x1200 but not 4K) and a host of other peripherals, none of which use much power.

What is a shame is that HP has a PC with so few ports and does not (yet) have a dock to support it.

Hi@fmlink1,

As I said combination is not tested by HP. So, the functionality is not guaranteed, HP recommended a power adaptor with the same watts that came with notebook,

If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors, please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few options on the market today including some HP products:

Hello!

The link is ALMOST helpful! It is a shame that the choices have not been updated to reflect the latest technology, including what HP itself is promoting on its latest laptops. For example, there is no way to state the following requirements:

- USB-Thunderbolt 4 (all that is there is USB-C, which could be anything)

- 8K Monitors

- Anker brand (which it turns out to have the best solution in the Anker Apex 12-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 Dock, Max 90W)

Hi@fmlink1,

Unfortunately, it's out of support boundary, I said the combination is not tested by HP. So, the functionality is not guaranteed,

I hope that answers your query. If it did, simply select "Accept as solution", to help the community grow and if you wish to thank us for our efforts, click on the thumbs up for kudos.

Have a great day ahead.

I understand that this is out of your "support boundary." From a consumer perspective, it is a shame that HP develops a powerful laptop and then neither develops required  common peripherals (e.g., TB4 cables, docking stations that are typically needed when the laptop has so few ports) nor advice as to where to turn to get them.

I appreciate your efforts to satisfy my request and realize that your hands have been ties by HP. So my query remains unanswered, but the good news is that I was able to find the Anker dock on my own and that it appears to be working fine.
