Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I want to get a wifi card (pci board) for my p6717f (AMD).  There are 3 open slots.  I've seen things like "does not support AMD", and "mini", "half", "adapter".  Too many variables.  The product page only lists the LAN, but if you want the wifi, it says to open device manager and see what's in it....  there is Nothing in it!   Help.  Some of the pci boards have wifi wires coming off of them - doesn't seem to be any place to plug those in.  Others don't.

Hi, Jon:

That is pretty odd because the product specs for your PC indicate that it already has an internal wifi card.

So perhaps the card is no good anymore since it is not showing up in the device manager.

I think the easiest thing to do so as not to have to be concerned with compatibility would be to purchase an external USB wifi adapter.

I have 2 HP desktop PC's and one Dell using external dual band USB wifi adapters and they work just fine.

Thanks -  that was the page I was looking for -  BUT - that's old equipment.  There are pci cards with 1200mbs and ac wifi out there.  PCI-E.  Just not sure where compatibility breaks down.

You're very welcome.

I don't have much experience with internal PCIe x1 wifi adapters.

The cheap ones I bought all worked, but had lousy reception.

So after wasting money on those, I decided to go with good quality USB wifi adapters.

But I believe the higher speed USB AC wifi adapters require a USB 3 port, which your PC is lacking.

I don't see why you couldn't install virtually any PCIe x1 wifi adapter.  I would read the reviews and get the best one for the money.

The ones that come with Bluetooth seem to require an internal USB connector on the motherboard.
