Hello,
I'm reaching out to you because this question has been bothering me for quite a while, and to be honest, it's starting to really frustrate me!
I would like to install an additional hard drive in my laptop, but I just can't seem to find a SSD that's compatible with my machine.
Please, I really need your help, I’ve found thousands of conflicting answers online, and I’ve already placed two orders, but neither of the SSDs were compatible.
My laptop is an HP EliteBook 840 G1.
I thank you in advance!

Hi:
According to chapter 1, page 3 of the service manual the M.2 SSD slot supports 32 GB M.2 flash storage drive used to accelerate the 2.5" mechanical hard drive.
Now if you want to experiment with a M.2 SATA SSD you can see if one of those will work.
This part number is listed in chapter 3 of the service manual:
HP 786035-001 - 120GB M.2 2242 SATA Solid State Drive - Drive Solutions
