Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

Pavilion dm3
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The battery on this machine is not charging properly and the battery test says the battery is weak. I assume I need a new battery. I have two questions: 1) I see 2 part numbers on my battery -- 616363-001 and 619438-001 -- which one is correct? and 2) Where can I find the correct battery replacement? I don't see it on HP and I am concerned about buying it elsewhere. Thank you.

Its a dm3t-3000 series and this is the battery:

(18) Battery 6C 62WHr 2.8Ah LI 619438-001

This is the only genuine one I can find, shipped from China:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Battery-for-HP-Pavilion-Dm3-3000-Dm3-3110-Series-619438-001-HSTNN-...

amazon.com has lots of "compatible" ones for $27 shipped:

https://www.amazon.com/BattpitTM-Notebook-Battery-Replacement-619438-001/dp/B074TZGWTK/ref=sr_1_1?ie...

Apparently the dm3-3000 was more popular in Europe as I am finding some genuine batteries in France but they are $80 with shipping to the USA.

Need your full model number as a different battery was used in the dm3-1000 and -2000 series than later models. Your laptop is at least 7 or 8 years old. HP no longer stocks batteries. You are going to have to buy it from a 3rd party vendor. You will have a choice of genuine HP batteries manufactured with an HP logo under license with HP and a "compatible", I sometimes call them "knock-off" batteries which are much cheaper and generally OK but some people avoid them. Where do you live (country)? Both of the numbers you provide are actual HP battery part numbers so you would be safe buying a battery under either of those numbers like this:

Could not find a genuine battery on amazon but once we know where you live it will probably be possible to find a genuine one.
