HP Laptop 15s-fq2049TU (31X08PA)
Microsoft Windows 11

I own a HP Laptop 15s-fq2049TU (31X08PA) with factory fitted 2 x 4gb DDR4 3200 SODIMM cards.

The HP web site specs show it SHOULD be running 8 GB DDR4-2666 MHz RAM (2 x 4 GB). HP shipped it out with other than what they list it as having installed. So I KNOW running 3200 isn't going to be the issue as it's been that way since new and Win 11 Task Manager shows it is actually running at 3200MT/s not 2666MT/s.

I have found numerous references of ram upgrades for this exact model HP showing that it can be upgraded to 2 x 16gb 3200 DDR4 SODIMM cards and CRUCIAL even state it will accept 2 x 32gb cards.

So I have already got 2 x 16gb DDR4 3200 SODIMM cards (CORSAIR VENGEANCE CMSX32GX4M2A3200C22) on hand and when I tried fitting them, I get an error signal, 3 slow flashes followed by 2 fast flashes of the CAP LOCK key light. So I then tried installing one sim card only, trying each slot with each card, but the same error signal. No combination of one or two cards in any slots will run the laptop. I get the error code and the screen does not power up. I tried forcing it to start in BIOS mode, but it still just flashes the error signal and goes no further.

I verified the two RAM cards are functioning properly in a different laptop both simultaneously and one at a time with no problems, the ram is fine.

I updated the BIOS to the latest version and it made no difference.

I TRIED contacting HP tech support and they won't tell me anything at all.

So this is the last option, can the HP community help me out? I'm trying to understand if it's some glitch that prevents the CORSAIR ram working in this HP or is it that the HP device is unable to manage 2 x 16gb ram even though numerous ram and SSD suppliers indicate it should be no problem with 2 x 16gb DDR4 3200 ram cards.

Appreciate whatever help you can offer,

cheers!
