My 14-inch laptop died suddenly. An IT friend said that it's a motherboard issue and is not repairable. I did not have time to delete my personal info before it's demise. This model has a 64 GB eMMC flash storage as a HD but it is not easily identifiable when disassembled and looking at the circuit board. Does anyone know where I can find the eMMC flash storage in this model so that I can destroy it and my personal info? Thanks for any assistance.

Hi:
According to the service manual, the eMMC drive is an integral part of the motherboard, not a separately removable part.
The motherboard will need to be replaced in order to replace the eMMC drive.
See the parts list chapter 3. There are two motherboards offered with the 64 GB eMMC drives.

Not shown in the Service Manual but located where the hard drive would be located if it had one:
eMMC located in this area
The eMMC will either be a module which is removeable and placed in this location or there will be an extension on the motherboard and a series of chips soldered in approximately the same location.

Do you have a picture of the inside of the laptop? If the motherboard is dead and the eMMC module soldered on there is no way I know of to retrieve data off the eMMC. If it is a plugin module it can act much like a hard drive and data can be recovered from it.
