HP Notebook - 15q-ds0005tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Processor - Intel® Pentium® Silver N5000

Product Number - 4TT06PA

Motherboard Model as per my research is - 84AA

I am afraid if I upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8GB, the motherboard may get burnt out. I know the CPU I am using does support max 8 GB RAM. But does HP Motherboard on my laptop support it? Can someone please help alleviate my fears?

Hi @Pratvachan
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

I did check upon your product and I see that the supports 8GB

DDR4-2400 dual channel support (DDR4-3200 bridge to 2666, DDR4-2666 downgrade to DDR4-2400)

However, I see that Two SODIMM slots are not customer accessible or upgradeable

Note: You can upgrade the RAM at your own Discreet.

Supports up to 16 GB maximum system memory in the following conƭgurations

● 16 GB (8 GB × 2)

● 12 GB (8 GB × 1 + 4 GB × 1)

● 8 GB (8 GB × 1 or 4 GB × 2)

● 4 GB (4 GB × 1)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello @Raj1788, When I checked the system today, I found only one SODIMM slot. But your comment says "two SODIMM slots are not customer accessible or upgradable". I also managed to pry open existing RAM and refit it again. The laptop is working okay after the operation. Did you mean that I should be able to do the process if I forgo Warranty? If so, I am okay with that. But kindly let me know if I have misunderstood anything. Thank you very much for helping with this @Raj1788

@Pratvachan That's right, it means the memory is non upgradeable as recommended by HP, however, if you wish to proceed with the upgrade either way, you may do so at your own discretion, which basically means, that if something goes wrong during the upgrade, it would not be supported by the warranty and you'll have to pay for the services.

I hope that answers your query,
