17 by-0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi.
I've replaced most of a laptop's parts but never changed an optical disk to an HDD, so I need help.

I've an HP Laptop 17-by0xxx. (I've no idea if this has a corresponding name a such as "Pavilion").
First, I need to know what type/model (or description to enable a web search) of caddy I can use to replace the optical disk drive?
Of the caddies I saw for HP, they all seem to be advertised "without cable" (implying the need one!). Do I need a cable (what description?) or is the caddy (and drive) all I need?
Finally, I believe the caddy should be able to carry up to a 2Tb HDD but, if true, what is the description to search for to find compatible 1Tb and 2Tb HDDs?
(In case it matters, I will need to source any parts from the US, if possible,  including via Amazon or Ebay).

Thanks in advance for guidance.

Hi Banhien.

Yes, sorry for that, couldn't work out how to get the whole number (xxx). I found a QR code on the label on the back and it led to the following info...

My "laptop" is an :  HP Notebook 17-by0062cl

The guidance I need is unchanged, as detailed above. However, now that I found what my laptop is, I found the following on sale:

HP 17-by Hard Drive Cover HDD Bracket Caddy L22534-001 by0000 No Cable GT

          Ebay Product Number 193736512561

I'm unsure if it is the fully caddy that I need?
And still don't understand if I need a cable (and what cable)?
As before, if this is the caddy, I'm unsure what HDD details to search for (I need either a 1 or 2 Tb disk).

Thanks

Your machine uses Fixed, serial SATA, 9.0-mm tray load therefore you need a SATA caddy with 9mm thickness. You don't need cable because all pins should fit. Yes, you can use 2.5" 2TB HDD . Many higher capacity HDD may not fit physically because they can be 12.5mm thick.

Finally you can buy from Amazon, eBay ... in The US. HP won't allow me to post many links outside. Please use Google and search yourself.
