Hi all.

Help me please with choosing SSD M.2 for HP ProBook 470 G4 (2HG48ES)

Product number: 2HG48ES#ACB

Serial number: [personal info removed]

Interested size parameters: 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 or 22110,

M2 bus type: SATA, or PCIe, AHCI

What correct key options "M" + "B", or only one of it.

Thank you for your reply in advance.

Hi:

Chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual indicates the notebook only supports M.2 SATA SSD's not NVMe.

HP ProBook 470 G4 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide

All HP PC's have M.2 slots with one key, not two.

That makes many folks just assume a NVMe SSD (normally having one notch) will work.

It won't.

A 2-notch M.2 SATA SSD will fit in the slot just fine.

One notch aligns with the key in the slot and the other notch just doesn't make any contact with some of the pins on the other side of the M.2 slot.

Nothing will prevent the two-notch SATA drive from fitting in the slot.

Firstly are you sure it has an M.2 slot for storage. Page 1 of its manual says NOTHING and it does NOT have dual storage option. HP does not supply its specs

The following link shows it supports M.2 SATA SSD with format 2280.

Crucial does not see it at all

I think it is not too old, it should have M.2 slot for SATA 3 SSD using format 2280.

Regards.
