Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey there, hopefully someone can help because HP's website doesn't have the correct solution, Crucial.com suggested a RAM card that does NOT physically fit, and I can't find this exact HP Notebook in any other 'smart' searches for a fit.

I have this HP Notebook (no fancy name, which most of the searches require! Frustrating)

Product Number : 6DB08UA
Description : HP NOTEBOOK - 15-BS144WM

I was guided to purchase a Crucial (by Micron) 8GB card, but it's just barely too physically wide to fit the slot... the specs of that incorrect card are:

NOTEBOOK DDR4-2400

SODIMM

1.2V CL17

CT8G4SFS824A

by both online searches and Crucial's tech support (via live chat). They also tried using HP's site and informed me the item that comes up is WRONG. It's listed that this laptop only has 1x4GB slot, which is totally incorrect. (I've opened it up and seen for myself that as listed elsewhere it has 2 slots).

I want to buy an 8GB version of the card that's already in it but I'm having trouble finding one, and I'm also open to other suggestions! I am not hardware savvy at all so some help would be greatly appreciated as the laptop's out of warranty and I CAN'T DIRECTLY GET IN CONTACT WITH HP after many tries! Very, very frustrating.

From pics I took when I had it open, the current card in the laptop is:

4GB ADATA DWNA-1013A

NA1947K

13106300

The metal divider between the two RAM slots says DDR3 RVS 1.5V if that's needed. The guy from Crucial told me it wasn't making sense that it was suggesting this DDR4 chip, but then later said it IS compatible with a DDR4...? I'm very confused.

Thanks for any help! I just need this frikking thing to RUN faster. It's not overloaded with software or anything, has no viruses (and I have barely even used it since I got it purely because it's infuriatingly slow to even have several web pages up and play music at the same time), yet it is always using 95%+ of the RAM running basic processes; this is why I'm trying to add 8GB RAM. (If that's not correct to begin with also please let me know!)

Thanks for your time and input if you have any!!

Hi:

Yes, this is quite a mystery.

The specs and parts list indicate your notebook uses DDR4 memory and the Crucial memory chip you ordered should have fit and worked.

HP PartSurfer

Does your notebook have an Intel Pentium Gold processor 4417U?

That's what the specs indicate.  Memory is DDR4.

If it has a different model processor, please let me know what model it is.

The parts list seems to indicate that your notebook could have also come with an Intel Core i3-5005U processor, and that definitely uses DDR3L-1600 memory and not DDR4.

When I google the memory part number you posted, I can't find much info.

Can you take a picture of both sides of the original memory chip and post a screen shot?

Chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual does indicate that the notebooks with the 5th generation Intel Core, Intel Pentium N3710/N4200, Celeron N3060/N3350 processors use DDR3L-1600 memory.

So, there is definitely a disconnect someplace.

Once you let me know what model processor your notebook has, I think I can get you the right memory you need.
