HP Notebook - 17-p150sa (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Good morning,

Here is the long and short of it.

I bought the aforementioned laptop with Windows 10 but after much struggle have purchased Windows 7 and have created a bootable USB using Rufus to install Windows 7 on it instead.

I am receiving the infamous "drivers not found" issue but have seen it is easily rectified by placing the specific driver files for the chipset controller onto the bootable USB - my problem is I don't know who the manufacturer is of the USB ports, the actual hardware. I know HP make their own motherboards so maybe they should have the drivers?

I basically need the drivers for the specific USB ports on my laptop as well as a quick guide regarding where the files go - in the instructional video using Intel drivers, the Intel drivers are available directly in the downloadable folder whereas HP driver sets seemingly arrive in executable files - could you explain how to extract these files in a way that the Windows 7 installer will detect the files? Or is it simply that the " .inf " files will be detected?

Thanks for any help.

Hi:

The service manual indicates that your notebook has USB 2 ports.

I can't make any sense out of how they are labeled in the illustrations, but if your notebook has any USB 2 ports, boot from one of those, and there shouldn't be any need to add USB 3 drivers.

According to the specs I am finding online, your notebook has an AMD processor, so you would not install Intel USB 3 drivers.

Hi Paul, thank you for your help. I used a Windows 7 ISO Image Updater which provided a multitude of drivers which bypassed the initial confusion that the motherboard and chipset was experiencing, expecting a Windows 10 OS.

Now that I have Windows 7 installed, however, there is a selection of devices requiring drivers. Can you please provide driver files? The name and hardware ID is as follows:

BCM43142A0, ID = USB\VID_0A5C&PID_216C&REV_0112
PCI Device = PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_1423&SUBSYS_812F103C&REV_00

USB = PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7814&SUBSYS_812F103C&REV_09

USB = PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7814&SUBSYS_812F103C&REV_09

Unknown Device = ACPI\SMB0001

Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much Paul. The bluetooth and touchpad ones failed to extract cab. I am assuming because it is Windows 7. Other than that the USB ports installed which were both important to have sorted. Cheers.

Those were W7 drivers so unfortunately, I don't know why they didn't work.
