I want to replace the hard drive of my HP Pavillion 15-ab219tx. What type of SSD I have to choose? Do I have the only option to install SATA SSD or I can choose other types of SSDs? Please help, need the answer soon. Thank you. 🙂

@iM20 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to replace the hard drive with SSD.

I have checked the manual ( page number 3)

Your product support M.2 SATA-3 (NGFF):

● SSD, 256GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, TLC

You can replace the hard drive with SSD.

Note: It will not support dual storage. You have to use the SSD or hard drive.

I saw that there's only one m.2 slot for WLAN which I can't and shouldn't remove. So, I decided remove the hard drive and in place of it, I'll install a 2.5 inch SATA III SSD of 500 GB. Is it ok? Please reply soon.

And one thing, the manual which you have referred to is for all the laptops which fall under the category mentioned in the manual title. And just like all the sections of hardware specifications, in page 3 the hard drive section also describe the HDDs or SSDs which come pre-installed with those various laptops under the category. So I think my laptop will support 2.5 inch SATA III SSD in place of the HDD as I saw an HP support agent answered to one's question about the same topic and for the same category laptop, even she also referred to the same manual. I just want to know 500 GB SSD is compatible with my laptop or not.

The Service Guide mentions SSD, 256GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, TLC

You could try installing 500 GB but HP cannot guarantee the Functionality or the performance of the 500 GB SSD drive
