Hi;
I have Victus by HP Laptop 16-d1015nia (6K2E6EA), the default factory SSD has 1 tb M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Gen 4x4 installed in SSD slot 2 on the motherboard, my question is the empty SSD slot 1 can I put SSD M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Gen 4x4 or Gen 3x4?
Thanks;

Hi:
Unfortunately, HP only has the service manual for the older model series available.
Since the specs for the 16-d1xxx model series indicates that HP only offered PCIe Gen 4x4 SSDs in them, I recommend that you install a PCIe Gen 4 x 4 SSD in the second slot.
Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d1000 series specifications | HP® Support
The worst-case scenario is if the secondary slot is only PCIe Gen 3.0, the Gen 4.0 SSD will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds.
PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD's are not that much more expensive than the 3.0's are nowadays.
In some cases, they even cost less.
