PA286A Docking Station
I am chasing the Part# for the AC adapter for the PA286A dock (used on my trusty old NC8230) so that I can source one via ebay etc (I realise that new ex Hp isn't going to happen). Can't find any reference to the dock on HP site. Virtual Assistant goes off at a tangent. I have the user manual but it doesn't show the part number, and there are several different Partnums in the listings on ebay. Knowing HP, the DC plug will differ between them ... Any ideas?

Hi.

This is the part number of the ac adapter 613150-001

AC power adapter (90 watt) - 100-240VAC input, 50-60Hz, 1.5A - 18.5VDC output, 4.9A, 90 watts, with Power Factor Correction (PFC) - Requires separate 3-wire AC power cord with C5 connector

Hope it helps,

David

No, that's not the correct spec.  The Dock states 18.5V 6.5A aka 120W, which is also indicated in the user manual.

Follow-up for anyone who happens here in the future ...

HP Support chat came up with:

"239705-001 - AC power adapter (90 watt) - 100-240VAC input, 50-60Hz, 1.5A - 18.5VDC output, 4.9A, 90 watts"

They also gave a link into the HP Parts system - here

Using that link and entering PA286A shows four entries.  Have a look at the last two - the docks. Both entries list the adapter as 120W, which matches the label on our actual dock.  Go figure.

It would be most un-HP to use a 90W psu on an appliance calling for 120W.

Sounds like after-market may be the only way forward.
