HP Laptop - 15-dw2025od
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

A relative own a HP laptop and is requesting me to assist with an upgrade for her. The information I have for it is as follows

I need to know the type of RAM needed. How much each slot can handle and how much the board can handle totally.

Please and Thank-you.

Hi:

Unfortunately, HP only has the service manual for the older 15-dw model series on that model's support page.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

Chapter 1 of the manual indicates the notebook has two memory slots and can support 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-2666 Mhz memory.

The Crucial memory report for the 15-dw2025od indicates it can support 2 x 16 GB of memory.

When you get the notebook, or you can ask your relative to do it...

You can do this to see how much memory the notebook can actually support...

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

If you buy the Crucial memory, do not buy the gaming memory.

Buy the standard memory with the green circuit board.
