Hello @Tracyhill2020 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

If your HP EliteBook's WiFi network card is not functioning, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Verify WiFi Connection: Ensure your WiFi is enabled on your HP EliteBook. This can often be toggled with a function key on the keyboard (typically Fn + one of the function keys).

Check Wireless Button: Some EliteBook models are equipped with a physical wireless button or switch on the body of the laptop. Make sure this button is turned on.

Ensure Drivers Are Updated:

Go to Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting it from the list.

Find "Network adapters" and locate your WiFi card.

Right-click on the WiFi card and select "Update driver." Choose to search automatically for updated driver software.

If Windows cannot find a driver update, you might need to visit the HP Support website or the manufacturer's website for your specific WiFi card to check for the latest driver.

Check Power Management Settings:

In Device Manager, right-click on your WiFi card and select "Properties."

Go to the "Power Management" tab and ensure that the option to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is unchecked.

Use Windows Troubleshooter:

Go to Settings > Network & Internet.

Select the Status tab and click on "Network Troubleshooter."

Reinstall the WiFi Driver:

In Device Manager, right-click your WiFi card and select "Uninstall device."

Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the default driver.

Check for BIOS Updates: Sometimes, a BIOS update can fix compatibility issues with network cards.

Visit the HP Support website, search for BIOS updates for your specific EliteBook model, and follow the instructions to update it.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be a hardware-related problem, in which case contacting HP support or a professional technician could be the next step.

For more specific maintenance and service procedures, you can refer to the Maintenance and Service Guide tailored for your EliteBook model here.
