I purchased my HP Spectre X360 new from in Best Buy in March 2020 and the battery life is terrible. If I'm lucky I am getting about 5 hours without being plugged into the wall. I do have the 4k monitor, however the low battery life happens from very simple activities such as reading the Microsoft news articles or my 2nd grader doing online school tasks. I am not running any PC games on here and haven't done anything like photo editing (which I plan to do, but need a reliable battery life for). Basically I haven't used it to do anything that would normally command rigorous hardware performance. I do like the brightness all the way up, but I don't feel the battery performance should be so ridiculously sacrificed due to the brightness. Can anyone please help? This is the first laptop I've owned and a big reason I bought it is for the supposedly great battery life. As we all know, this is an expensive laptop too, so I'm really feeling frustrated at the lack of battery performance. Thanks for any help and support!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the battery life.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Your notebook configuration and power settings can impact your battery performance. This includes settings such as:
- Display brightness
- Backlit keyboard
- Display resolution
- Windows Power Plan
- Processor speed
- Type of storage, such as a peripheral storage
Having said that, use these tips to change the power consumption of the computer to conserve battery power.
- Reduce the number of open applications. Each open software application uses memory and power, even when the application window is minimized. Close software applications to conserve battery power.
- Reduce the brightness of the screen to the minimum readable level. Use the function keys to adjust the brightness or use the display settings in Windows.
- Remove peripherals when not in use. External hard drives and other peripheral devices can draw power from your battery even when they are not in use. Disconnect peripheral devices when you are finished using them.
- Reduce the speed of your processor. The faster your computer works, the more quickly it depletes battery power. You can extend the charge of your battery by slowing down the processor speed.
- Turn off the wireless function. Wireless connections draw battery power. When the wireless capability is not needed, turn it off. Press the Wireless On-Off button so that the wireless feature and wireless light turn off.
- Change the power option setting. Select either HP Recommended or Power saver to conserve battery power.
I hope it helps and you have a great day!
