Product: HP EliteBook 850 G5 Notebook PC

Hello, I have an HP Eleitebook 850 G5 with Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz 1.80 GHz and 16GB Memory. It has a Samsung MZVLB512HAJQ-000H1 SSD drive installed. I have run out of space and want to upgrade to a larger SSD drive. I have been looking at the WD Blue SN570 NVMe SSD drive. This is a GEN3 PCIe SSD drive and would like to know if my laptop will be able to use the GEN4 PCIe SSD drives like the WD Blue SN580?

I would like to upgrade to at least 2TB of space.

Thank you in advance for any and all help in this issue.

Yes, machine will be able to use PCIe Gen 4 drives BUT it won't run at PCIe Gen 4 speed.

Thank you for your reply. So, the system will only allow 3500MB/s data transfer?

 

I guess I am ok with that and if I ever update to a newer system I can transfer the SSD drive.
