HP250 G5

Hi

We need to replace the battery on two HP250 G5 Notebooks.

The current batteries state:

10.95V / 31 Wh / 2831mAh

The spare part nr on the battery is:  807956-001

However, lots of online sites selling  replacement batteries ( original or "compatible" ) and claiming they have the correct spare part for our laptops, but they are not 100% similar - most often they are :

14.8 V / 41 Wh and a different mAh

Having never had to buy or replace laptop batteries, we are concerned that a new battery which is not 100% similar ( i.e. higher Voltage and Wattage ) might cause problems or be downright dangerous as heard of laptops catching fire or being "fried" from within when using "compatible" batteries that aren't actually suitable.

Any help and assistance in regards to this issue is gratefully received.

Hi @Sve_Sko_MK ,

The HP part numbers for the factory OEM compatible batteries are.

4-cell, 41-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery   HP p/n 807957-001
3-cell, 31-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery   HP p/n 807956-001

See page 36 of the Maintenance and Service guide at the hyperlink below.

As long as the replacement battery it has the same HP OEM part number it will have to be compatible.

The hyperlink below is for numerous online vendors selling the HP battery with  the HP part number.
