Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Getting the 90b error almost every start up. Replaced the fan a couple years ago and shortly after I started having the problem but I wasn't using it much so I lived with it. Now I'm using it more and want to resolve the issue. Only ordered the fan and not the heat sink since all I removed was the fan. And I'm not sure if I can update the bios since I'm running windows 10 and there isn't an option for that os on hp website.

Side note: during the installation of the fan I noticed the fan blade assembly isn't directly mounted to the rotor so if I tug at it, it'll come off. Doesn't stop the operation of the fan though.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting a system fan 90B error on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

What is the product number of your computer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

Product number is LW178UA#ABA

Completed all the steps except for getting a new fan and replacing the thermal paste. Wanted to see if there was anything I could do before having to install another new fan to avoid the problem happening again.

If the steps I shared didn't do the trick, it would confirm a hardware issue and I recommend you contact support and check the available service options for your computer.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Cheers!
