I purchased a chrome book for my daughter for Christmas. Brand new. I picked which WiFi to use and hit continue. It found the current update and proceeded to download it. That’s as far as it went. The update has not finished or progressed, after hours of waiting. I’ve powered down and restarted, tried a hard reset, and even a powerwash. All to no avail. It still refuses to finish the update. My only option is a recovery, and I feel I should not have to do any of this with a brand new device. I would appreciate any help with this matter.

I had to do a system restore. You’ll need a jump drive or SD card to download the chrome os.

I had the same issue just a few days ago. I contacted HP call support this morning and they had me do some resets with no solution found. I am having to ship mine in to have the WiFi card replaced because it is unable to recognize my WiFi. I hope your solution is easier than mine!

Yup, I am in the same boat. I wish I tries to set up before Christmas because now my son doesn't get to use his Christmas gift. Very disappointed with this. Hope it is not a sign of what's to come. 

 

Customers support is closed so I will have to wait until tomorrow to call.
