Was the new battery a genuine one with the HP logo and the HP part number on the battery?
The batteries in the lisat below are the only two compatible batteries for your laptop
Battery:
Description HP Part Number
● 6-cell Li-lon, 2.20 Ah, 47 Wh 593553-001
● 6-cell Li-lon, 2.55 Ah, 55 Wh 593554-001
Only use genuine HP batteries that have the correct HP part number and the HP logo on them.
Non-genuine (generic), ( i.e HT03XL) batteries are known to sometimes not work as expected because of their non standard programming of the internal BMS (battery management system) chip.
If you read through threads in the forum related to problems after battery replacement you will see many members who have used generic batteries complaining that they are not working as expected.

In my previous reply I explained why the battery is not behaving as you expected it to do.
The BMS chip in the battery is not correctly programmed in a way that your laptop's battery management system can communicate with it.
You needed a specific genuine HP battery and you chose to install one that was not.
