Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

My Laptop is new It's an HP Laptop15s-fq2021nv. It runs WIN 11. Today I pluggedd in on one of the 2 USB sockets an exterior hard disk. In the other one the wireless mouse is on and that stopped working because I plugged in the exterior disk. I'm thinking of returning the laptop. Can anyone help me solve the problem?

I can't think of any reason why this should be happening.

 

If have a laptop that has a wired keyboard and mouse plugged in using a dock and when I connect an external USB SSD, nothing unusual happens.

 

If this were mine, I would return it for a refund and buy something else.
