I currently have an HP Envy x360. 64-bit operating system, 64x based processor AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics (can't find the graphics specifications) 8 GB RAM Was bought in 2020 new and has been well used. The joint and backing to the screen just broke and I have a feeling the insurance I have will want to just give me a new one instead of fixing it. What would be the modern equivalent or better to this be? I want the 2-in-1 capability with pen and touch support like this one and I despise intel so none of those in the suggestions please! Bonus if you can put a link in your suggestion because my brain is fogging looking at all the different laptops right now.

Hi @bosch5,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’m sorry to hear about the hinge; that’s always a frustrating surprise, especially when you’ve cared for the machine. Good news: HP makes several modern 2-in-1 Envy models with AMD processors, pen & touch support, and much better durability than older designs. Below, I’ll suggest modern, Intel-free 2-in-1 options from HP that match (or exceed) your current Envy x360, and I’ll include official HP links so you can check specs and prices quickly.

Quick note before recommendations: if your insurance might pay for a replacement, you may want to confirm whether they will replace with a repaired unit or allow a new purchase. If you prefer HP to check repair/warranty options first, I can do that (share the serial/product number privately).

Top HP AMD 2-in-1 picks (official HP models)

  1. HP ENVY x360 15 (AMD Ryzen 7000 / 8000 series options)
A modern 15.6" convertible with Ryzen 7/8 options, pen + touch support, and a roomy display if you liked your 15-inch workflow. This is the most direct replacement in size and capability.

  2. HP ENVY x360 14 (AMD Ryzen 7 8xxx / 8840HS variants)
If you prefer a slightly smaller, lighter 2-in-1 with excellent battery life and a high-quality touch/OLED option, the 14" Envy x360 AMD builds are excellent and fully support the HP active pen. Great if you want tablet-like portability.

  3. HP EliteBook / ProBook (AMD options)
If you want something sturdier with business-grade hinges and longer service options (still 2-in-1 with pen support on some AMD SKUs), consider the AMD-equipped EliteBook variants. These are slightly more premium and built for heavier daily use.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
