The hard drive for my HP 17-cn0013dx (37P29UA) laptop unexpectedly died couple months ago. It was originally equipped with windows 10. I recently got a new Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD NON-RAID SATA 2.5 to replace the old one. However I can't get windows 10 installed on the new hard drive. I used another family members laptop with windows 10 on it to use the media creation tool to download on a 32GB flash drive. Had no problem with that.
Problem as many have had, is no drivers are found. I've downloaded the proper Intel RST for my laptop. Extracted the files and added them to the USB flash drive. In fact I've tried several flash drives, 3.0 and 2.0 and the one I created the software on. Soon as I get to the F6 folder and press "ok", nothing shows up in the folder. No drivers at all.
I'm completely lost on what to do? Only had this thing for barely over 2 years and can't afford a new laptop. Is there something I'm overlooking or forgetting?

Hi,
If you enter BIOS at boot can you see the hard drive listed in BIOS?
It could be a problem with the drive or cable, or installation of the drive.
Turn off PC by holding power button until shutdown
Turn on the PC and repeatedly press ESC until startup menu appears
Pres F10 to enter BIOS
See if the Hard Drive is listed.
When you open the PC does it have the M2 slot?
let us know,
David

Please see the post below. The author used sp146929 which contained the latest Intel RST storage controller driver to successfully install Windows on his HP 17- cn0053cl laptop. He extracted the F6 folder and copied it to his Windows installation usb drive. Please see the post for more details.

Situation Fixed.
The Intel RST file I downnloaded from HP support for my laptop is an exe file. For some reason I can't get the drivers extracted from it. Whether it was 7zip, Powershell, or CMD. I was able to find the correct drivers through a Reddit post having a similar issue and got windows installed on my new SSD. I'll share the link for Reddit when I get home from work later for future users having the same problem if that's ok.
However all is not perfect. Now the mouse pad and buttons are not working. There's not even a mouse cursor on the screen. Is there a drive for it I need to install or is it something else that needs to be fixed?
