Hello, during my installation of the HP laptop type 470 G7, I noticed that there is no indicator LED while toggling the NumLock key. Instead the CapsLock key has an indicator led. Is this by design or is this a hardware defect? If by design, how you know when the Numeric keypad is active or not? (not so interesting during login with numbers in yous password...)

The User Guide does not show an LED light for the Num Lock key (Page 12).
If you are not hearing impaired, the following can be set to help you know when the Num Lock is engaged (enabled):
No Caps / Num light on your keyboard?
Switch on the "tone" toggle to enable audio queues when Caps / Num / Scroll lock keys are used.
Windows key > Settings > Ease of Access > (scroll down / select) Keyboard >
Section Use Toggle Keys
Switch ON Play a sound whenever you press Caps Lock, Num Lock, and Scroll Lock
And (Optional)
Switch ON Turn on Toggle Keys by holding the NUM LOCK key for 5 seconds

Thank you Dragon-Fur for your swift reply.
Indeed I saw in the user guide that they noticed about an indicator for the capslock but not for the numlock.
Indeed the sounds works when enabled in "Ease of Access", not my favorite but better then nothing.
I think I've to accept that there are notebooks without numlock indicator...(Was something new for me). I proposed this notebook to a customer of me, hopefully he/she makes not an issue that there is no numlock indicator. Do you know the reason why HP didn't provide a numlock with a LED indicator? Budget reasons? Seems me pitty for this budget...

You are welcome.
I don't know the reason - could be budget, I guess. Many things are tied to budget. ?
I have a num-lock light on a (what was at the time a) very expensive Zbook - and I don't use the indicator light as much as I depend on the audio setting when various keys are pressed. I do occasionally look at the keyboard - having the little sound alert switched on means I do not have to check the keyboard when setting the caps or num lock on / off. Nice.
Experience says you'll get used to it, though I can understand that you don't like it and you do not want to get used to something you wanted otherwise. Smiling.
Stay Safe.
