HP Pavilion laptop Model 4AG15UA#ABA original Bios F.23. Updated to newest Bios F.24 Rev A . OS Ver 2009 (10.0.19044) Board ID: 84BE
Will not boot with a 8GB SO-Dimm plugged into the open second connector. Will boot with either mem module plugged into first connector .
Would like to have 16GB on this laptop. How do I do it? Using 2 HP part number L46589-001 modules.

The HP part numbered memory modules that HP lists as compatible are: (P/N 's are in bold)
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06248419.pdf Chapter 3, page 20
Memory modules (2, DDR4-2400, 1.2-V):
8 GB 862398-855
4 GB 862397-855
2 GB 864271-855
The modules you mentioned are not in the illustrated parts list.
They are also not found in the HP Partsurfer data for your notebook

You could also purchase Crucial memory modules that are guaranteed to work as expected.
