Hi @Ploploplo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the cursor is missing from your screen despite restarting and troubleshooting your keyboard, touchpad, and mouse, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:
1. Check External Mouse Connection
- Verify Connection: If you're using an external mouse, make sure it is properly connected to the USB port. Try unplugging and reconnecting it or using a different USB port.
- Test Mouse: Connect the mouse to another computer to ensure it’s working correctly.
2. Enable Touchpad
If you’re using a laptop, ensure the touchpad is enabled:
- Function Key: Many laptops have a function key (e.g., Fn + F7, F8, or F9) to toggle the touchpad on and off. Look for an icon that resembles a touchpad on the function keys.
- Touchpad Settings: Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad (in Windows) to check if the touchpad is enabled.
3. Check Display Settings
Ensure that your display settings are correctly configured:
- Display Detection: Right-click on the desktop and select “Display settings.” Make sure that your display is correctly detected and that the display settings are configured properly.
4. Check Mouse Settings
Ensure that the mouse settings are properly configured:
- Open Mouse Settings: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse or Settings > Devices > Mouse.
- Check Cursor Visibility: Ensure the cursor is not set to be hidden or set to an invisible color.
5. Update or Reinstall Mouse Drivers
Update Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager (right-click Start menu and select “Device Manager”).
- Expand “Mice and other pointing devices.”
- Right-click your mouse and select “Update driver.”
- Choose “Search automatically for updated driver software.”
Reinstall Drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click the mouse and select “Uninstall device.”
- Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers.
6. Check for Display Driver Issues
Sometimes, display driver issues can cause problems with cursor visibility:
- Update Graphics Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager > Display adapters.
- Right-click your graphics card and select “Update driver.”
- Choose “Search automatically for updated driver software.”
7. Use Keyboard Shortcuts
- Switch Input Devices: Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and select “Task Manager” to see if the cursor reappears in the Task Manager window.
- Show Desktop: Press Windows key + D to show the desktop and then press Windows key + D again to return to your previous window.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
