Hi @Timc85
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for explaining everything so clearly—it’s definitely frustrating to upgrade your GPU and be greeted with a blank screen.
Let’s walk through a few steps that might help bring your HP OMEN 40L back to life with the new Nvidia 5070 Ti. 🧩🖥️
🔌 1. Verify GPU Installation
- Reseat the GPU firmly in the PCIe x16 slot.
- Use separate PCIe power cables from different PSU rails (avoid daisy-chaining).
- Confirm the 12VHPWR connector is fully inserted if applicable.
🧠 2. Check BIOS Settings
- Access BIOS using F10 at startup.
- Set Primary Display to PCIe/PEG.
- Disable Secure Boot and enable CSM (Compatibility Support Module) if available.
- Save and exit.
🖥️ 3. Test with Integrated Graphics
- Connect monitor to onboard HDMI/DisplayPort.
- If display appears, enter BIOS and switch graphics priority.
- Use this path to update drivers and BIOS if needed.
🔄 4. Update BIOS/Firmware
- Visit the HP OMEN 40L Support Page.
- Download and install the latest BIOS update for your specific model.
- Do not interrupt power during the update.
🧰 5. Driver Installation
- Use integrated graphics to boot into Windows.
- Download the latest NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti drivers from NVIDIA’s official site.
- Run a clean install using NVIDIA’s custom installation option.
⚙️ 6. Clear CMOS
- Power off and unplug the PC.
- Remove the CMOS battery for 5 minutes, then reinstall.
- Alternatively, use the CMOS reset jumper on the motherboard.
🔍 7. Check PSU Compatibility
- Ensure your PSU is ATX 3.0 certified and rated at 850W or higher.
- Confirm it supports transient power spikes required by RTX 50-series GPUs.
🧪 8. Test GPU in Another System
- If possible, test the RTX 5070 Ti in a different PC to rule out a DOA unit.
🧼 9. Inspect for POST Beeps or LED Codes
- Listen for beep codes or check diagnostic LEDs on the motherboard.
- These can indicate GPU, RAM, or power-related faults.
Let me know how it goes—whether the screen finally lights up or if we need to dig deeper. You’re doing all the right things, and we’ll get this beast roaring again! 💪😊
