While there was an answer for this posted in another thread, it was totally unhelpful since it said google the part numbers.
My question is this. With this series of laptop, why is there space allocated for a 2.5" hard drive if there are no brackets or cables provided with the computer? Without the required brackets or cables, this is 100% wasted space.

The reason I am posting this is that HP has either through negligence or simply not caring about its customers to omit these required parts and provided no way at all to acquire them.  Dell and Asus, two main competitors provide these brackets and cables with their laptops either in the box or in the computer itself.

I am hoping with this post to attempt to shame HP into making these parts available to us so we can add on that second drive if we want.

My questions to you are these...

1. Why would you find this post totally unhelpful since HP doesn't supply the parts?

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Adding-a-hard-drive-15-cs3003c...

I googled the part numbers listed, and found them available on Amazon and/or eBay.

2. Since HP does not supply the parts, yet the part numbers are provided, what else could you do but to search elsewhere for them?

3. Why would you presume to shame HP here, when this is a peer to peer forum, and no one from HP is around to shame?

While you certainly have valid questions, and I completely agree with you that HP should be supplying these parts at least for  a few years, you would be better off letting the HP executive team know about their shortcomings at the link below.

Ok some background:
The Laptop in question is a 2019 model purchased brand new a couple days ago with an eye to expanding its storage with an additional 2.5" SSD. It is not some old out-of-support model that I bought used, but brand new stock. The part numbers listed are common between several models in the same Pavilion 15 CS3 series and are not new just for this one.

1. I have also googled the part numbers. I live in Canada so I work through Amazon.ca. On amazon.ca there are a couple of listings. All show out of stock with no stock expected. I have tracked through every other listing of those brackets found on google. Every one of them except for 2 shows them out of stock. Of those you are being charged $112 for a small piece of metal. The other simply refuses to list a price for it. I did get an ebay hit on the drive cable - (reconditioned 😕 ) but absolutely nothing for the brackets.

HP MAKES the notebooks. Just like Dell and Asus make theirs (Well Asus rebrands, but they do provide the parts.). When I buy equipment from a computer manufacturer, I expect THEM to provide the parts necessary to upgrade or repair it. I do NOT expect to have to hit Ebay or Amazon for them.

2. If they can provide the part numbers, they can make them available in their parts department. If they can't, this does not reflect on well from the CONSUMER'S (aka MY) point of view. I am NOT impressed!

3. I presume to shame HP in the view of their customers. I presume because I am very well aware that their staff are required to read forums such as these (it is hosted on their servers) just as I was required to look into the company provided user forums to see what my customers were most complaining about before I retired after 30 years. My company was well aware that our customers were complaining between themselves and lurking those forums was a good way to get product feedback. And NO, I do not like the price/value of THEIR laptops since they sold the personal/mobile computer division to a Chinese company. I really do have some Idea what I am talking about.

Thanks for the link to the executive team though. You can bet that I will be contacting them about this because it is unacceptable to expect folks to buy their products but never upgrade or expand storage on them.

You're very welcome.

Regarding #3...

This forum is not on a HP server.  It is hosted by Khoros.

I sure wouldn't be holding my breath if I were you regarding anyone from HP reading your post, and being shamed by it.

But if it made you feel better, that's all that matters, I suppose.

In a matter of hours, this post will be buried amongst the thousands of others.

We will just have to agree to disagree about what this forum is for.

I get your points though. Thanks for the feedback!
