@Alex20213, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Notebook is displaying "No Primary Battery" and the battery is not charging, try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Perform a Power Reset

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if it's removable).
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  4. Reinsert the battery and plug in the charger.
  5. Turn on the laptop and check if the battery is detected.

2. Check Battery Status in BIOS

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it on and immediately press F2 (or F10 on some models) repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  3. Navigate to Battery Information and check if the battery is detected.
  4. If it says "No Primary Battery", the battery may be faulty or improperly connected.

3. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it on and repeatedly press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  3. Select Battery Test and run the test.
  4. If the test shows an error, note down the error code (e.g., 601 or 602).

4. Update Battery & Power Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
  2. Expand Batteries.
  3. Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall.
  4. Restart the laptop, and Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

5. Update the BIOS

  1. Check your laptop model on the HP Support website.
  2. Download and install the latest BIOS update for your model.
  3. Restart and check if the battery is detected.

6. Try a Different Charger

A faulty charger may prevent the battery from charging. If available, test with a compatible HP charger.

7. Replace the Battery

If none of the above steps work and the battery is still not detected, it may be dead or faulty and needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
