I recently purchased a HP Laptop 14S from Harvey Norman however when I come to look for the serial ports under Device Manager none appear. This machine is running Windows 11 not in the S mode. I have tried clicking the option show hidden devices however still nothing appears. Suspect i may have to add a legacy device driver. Any clues please.

Now nearly all notebooks do NOT have Serial port. To connect to older devices we have to use USB to Serial adapters.
Sounds like they don't have standard for that. I had to use adapter from Thales to connect to Thales devices, from CISCO to CISCO devices and from IBM to IBM devices ....
They all use LAN connection now, Support personnel now can work from home.
Regards.

Perhaps I didn't phrase my question properly. I undersatnd that the modern laptops do not have a standard RS 232C serial port however I also have a HP Pavillion laptop that has no physical serial port yet in Device Manager it shows under
Ports (COM & LPT).
These are:-
Standard Serial over Bluetooth link (COM3)
Standard Serial over Bluetooth link (COM4)
I'm trying to setup the new HP 14S to have the same serial data Com ports as the HP Pavillion however need the correct Bluetooth driver to be able to do this. Windows 11 doesen't seem to have this. Any more ideas?
