HP Probook 650 G1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have recently upgraded the Probook's wifi to include bluetooth by installing a dual band wireless 7260, and I can see the device for wifi but not for the bluetooth.  I have looked for updated drivers and such but have had no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Below is the link to the W10 Intel 7260AC Bluetooth driver:

Intel Bluetooth Driver

I executed the file and rebooted the computer, I still am not getting bluetooth listed in the device manger.

Did the card you had installed prior to installing the Intel 7260AC card have Bluetooth?

If it did, was the Bluetooth working and were you running on W10 at the time?

There are two things it could be and before I proceed with further troubleshooting steps, I need to know that information first.

There was an Intel N-6235 without bluetooth, it was working fine with only wifi but the owner wanted bluetooth and this is apparently an approved card.

OK.

I have a fairly good idea as to what happened.

The Intel 6235N card is a combination Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card.

Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6235, Dual Band

I'm going to bet that the notebook originally came with Windows 7 and the person upgraded the PC to W10 when the free upgrade period was available.

What happened was that the Intel Bluetooth was turned off using the HP Connection Manager software during the upgrade.

That program is not supported in W10, so after the upgrade the Bluetooth remained off and the software was removed during the upgrade because it is incompatible with W10, and you can't install the software on W10.

So, the easiest thing to do if you don't want to reinstall W7 on the notebook, install the HP connection manager to turn on the Bluetooth and then reinstall W10 would be to do this:

Make a bootable USB Ubuntu installer.

Download Ubuntu Desktop | Ubuntu

Here's a tutorial for how to make the installer:

Create a bootable USB stick with Rufus on Windows | Ubuntu

Boot from the Ubuntu installer and select the option to try Ubuntu without installing.

Turn on the Bluetooth in Ubuntu.

Exit out of Ubuntu, shut down the PC, remove the Ubuntu USB flash drive, restart the PC and when you get back into Windows, the Bluetooth should be present and perhaps it will have installed the Intel Bluetooth driver I gave you yesterday.

If not, run the driver again.

I will give this a try next week when I get the laptop back in my hands.
