So this laptop is an omen 15-ek0013dx which is a couple years old, and it does not start. When i press the power button nothing happens, though when i press the power button while its charging the charging light blinks 3 times. I tried removing the battery and then pressing the button but i still got the same 3 blinking lights. I also tried different chargers and it all gave me the same 3 blinking lights. Is this an issue with the ac adapter?

@Zozo9,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The blinking lights on your HP Omen laptop suggest a hardware issue, specifically related to the power supply or internal components. Based on your description (3 blinking lights), it typically indicates a problem with the AC adapter or the motherboard.

Interpret the Blinking Code: Three blinks generally point to a power issue, such as a faulty AC adapter or motherboard. This can also happen if the power is not being delivered properly to the system.

Inspect the AC Adapter:

  • Check the adapter's output voltage using a multimeter. Ensure the charger provides the correct voltage (usually printed on the adapter). Compare this with the laptop's required voltage, typically on the bottom of the laptop or in the manual.
  • Verify the charging cable and connection. Ensure there’s no physical damage to the cable or connectors, including the port on the laptop.

Test with Another Adapter: You mentioned trying different chargers but confirm that all adapters are compatible and output the correct voltage.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the power cable and remove the battery (if possible).
  • Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
  • Reconnect the power supply and try powering the laptop again.

Check the Power Jack: Inspect the power port on the laptop for any loose or damaged pins. If the port is damaged, it can lead to charging issues and prevent the laptop from starting.

Test Without the Battery: If the battery is removable, try starting the laptop with just the AC adapter connected (no battery installed). This will help you determine if the issue is with the battery.

Inspect the Internal Hardware:

  • If the laptop still doesn’t start, the motherboard or internal power circuitry may be damaged.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
