HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-eu0000 (267R8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Yesterday my laptop sudenly turned off when I was doing work for school. I tried turning it on and nothing happened. First I checked if there is problem with battery and I let it charge. There are no problems and it charged all the way. When I press ON button it lights up for 1-2s and if I hold it for 10-20s it just blinks. I tried holding it also for 60s and nothing helps haha.

I think the same thing happened 2 months ago and I took it to service. It costed me 100€ and I hope I don't need to take it again. Last time they just cleaned the motherboard and it turned on again and they cleaned the fans.

Hi @PiciDave

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to have your laptop suddenly turn off and not power back on. Here are some steps you can try before considering service again:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if possible).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning it on again.

Check Power Supply:

  • Make sure the power adapter is functioning correctly. If you have access to another compatible charger, try using that to rule out issues with the power supply.

Inspect for Overheating:

  • If the laptop was hot when it turned off, it may have overheated. Let it cool down for at least 30 minutes before trying to power it on again.

Remove External Devices:

  • Disconnect any external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.) that could be causing issues, then try to power on the laptop.

Check RAM:

  • If you’re comfortable doing so, try reseating the RAM. Remove the RAM sticks and reinstall them, ensuring they’re seated properly.

Listen for Beep Codes:

  • When you attempt to turn on the laptop, listen for any beep codes. These can indicate hardware issues, and you can refer to your laptop's manual or the manufacturer's website for meanings.

Try Booting in Safe Mode:

  • If you can get the laptop to show any sign of life (like a logo), try booting into Safe Mode by repeatedly pressing the F8 key or Shift + F8 during startup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
