Notebook HP - 15S-EQ1057NL with Ryzen 7-4700U: Wi-Fi issue
Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac
I'm experiencing issues with Wi-Fi signal strength after my laptop accidentally fell about 60 cm while closed. At least, I think that's the cause.
The signal is very inconsistent and variable, but if I get really close to the router, it reaches 92%. At a medium distance of about 2.3 meters, the signal strength is around 40%-50%, which is too weak.
What can I try? The official HP test does not detect any issues with the wireless card. Such a shame!
What could be causing this? Is it expensive to repair? I don't have much financial flexibility at the moment. I'm struggling to find proper assistance in my city, and the laptop is out of warranty. Could this possibly be a software issue?
Where are these antennas located? It's too difficult to disassemble! I would probably make things worse.
This is really upsetting me because I use it for work.
Thanks!

Didn't you see my reply to your question about adding more memory?
I gave you the service manual last week.
Read it and see if you can open it up yourself.
Otherwise, maybe you have a friend that is handy with that kind of thing.

That tells you how to access the Wi-Fi card location.
It is possible the fall detached the Wi-Fi antenna connector from the Wi-Fi card.
Before you take the notebook apart to inspect for any physical issues, see if installing the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers for the RTL8821CE resolves the problem.
