HP ENVY 17-ce0000
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a question about notebook HP ENVY 17-ce0000. Is it possible to remove DVD drive without dismounting case (I don't want to lose warranty).

I need to remove DVD drive, because I want to plug in SSD drive (in CD-DVD adapter) with Ubuntu on-board.

Thanks for help.

Sorry NO, you have to remove the bottom case to be able to access to a screw which keeps the ODD (aka CD/DVD drive) to machine.

I can't get its full specs, only

          https://www8.hp.com/ca/en/laptops/product-details/product-specifications/26084757

(Not much information such as CPU, Storage, RAM ..... I don't know why they put up a specs like that).

Your machine must be something like HP ENVY 17-ce0nnnaa (where nnn = 3 digits and aa = aa to zz). You should be able to find out using

             https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108

But the series supports DUAL storage you don't need to use SSD (what ?) on ODD slot. For storage, what does it have now ?

Regards.

Kindly thanks for your support. My model is exactly: 17M-CE0013.

I need to swap this external drive to another machines, so this solution is most convenient for me. Also I can use usb connection, but ttansfer is slower and those cables and storage case is anoying when I'am working in bed.

I'am wondering if I try to remove case, will I lose warranty.
