hi, I have a notebook Compaq 6720s with CPU Intel Celeron 550, I'm not going to open it to check and read written on the die the chipset is to be {GLE960,GME965}.

- The first platform (GLE960) support 553-MHZ FSB with max CPU Intel Celeron 550 2.00-GHz processor, 1-MB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB

- The second platform (GME965) support 800-MHz FSB with mac CPU Intel Core 2 DUO T9300 2.50-GHz processor, 6-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz front side bus (FSB),

Hi, Roberto:

Since your notebook has the celeron processor, it has a different motherboard (GLE960 chipset), than those that come with the pentium processors.

You cannot run any processor in your PC with a higher FSB speed than 533 Mhz.

I wonder if you could install the Intel® Pentium® Processor T2390 1M Cache, 1.86 GHz, 533 MHz FSB?

It is in the same Merom processor family as yours.

the only way is to disassemble the laptop, the Northbridge is GLE960 not support FSB 800MHZ and relative CPU T8300/T9300 C2D... I want to cry...

Hi Paul, i have buy a Intel® Pentium® Processor T2370/1.73GHz/1M/533Mhz, and installed it *works very well*, the "new" CPU support SpeedStep® tecnology and active enhained istruction as {C1E,C2E,C3E,C4E}, in Windows® XP® no problem, however, I ask to exist the SpeedStep® driver for Windows® 2000, with this OS, the CPU not activate middle speed, and cores as 100% of speed, the cpu fan is active for dissipate heat... you know the exist of driver for windows 2k0 for management C3/C4 state?

Thanks, but not work with Pentium(r) Dual Core, this package is for Intel SpeedStep as Pentium M, I have find on intel site last "applet" ver. 3.4 but not active section speedstep on powercfg.cpl...
